Regular oil changes...Priceless

This is why it is so important to get regular oil changes. At 125,000 miles on this engine the sludge build up is huge.  The engine only had 3-5 oil changes total, throughout its life.  Now, because of not getting regular oil changes this car needs a new engine.

Cost of new engine =$4000-$6000
Cost of regular oil changes @ 4 oil changes per year= $200 for the year

Getting your car in for regular oil changes is much less than a new engine, wouldn't ya say!

Labor Day!

The first Labor Day was held in 1882.  It is held annually on the first Monday of September.  It was started as a way to celebrate the many labor forces that contribute to the U.S. economy.  In the U.S., we use Labor Day as a day of rest, for those end of summer trips.

Have a fun and safe Labor Day!

Eat Like a Mechanic!

Margarita Pizza on the Grill

Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh pizza dough
  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
  • 4  plum tomatoes, sliced
  • .25 teaspoons salt
  • .25 teaspoons coarsely ground black pepper
  • .5 cups sliced fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Directions
  • Prepare outdoor grill for covered, direct grilling on medium-low.
  • Cut dough into 4 equal pieces. On one end of oiled cookie sheet, with fingertips, spread and flatten 1 piece of dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. (Edge does not need to be even.) On same cookie sheet, repeat with another piece of dough. Repeat with a second oiled cookie sheet and remaining dough.
  • Place all 4 pieces of dough, oiled side down, on hot grill grate. Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until grill marks appear on underside (dough will stiffen and puff).
  • With tongs, turn crusts over. Working quickly, arrange one-fourth of mozzarella, one-fourth of tomatoes, salt, and pepper on each crust. Cover grill and cook pizzas 3 to 4 minutes longer or until undersides are evenly browned and cooked through.
  • Transfer to cutting board; sprinkle tops of pizzas with basil, and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Cut into wedges. Makes 4 servings.

Not feeling it?

If your cars A/C system is not blowing as cold as before it can probably fixed quickly and inexpensively by changing your cabin air filter.  The new cabin air filter can make all the difference in what your A/C feels like.  It's important to change it more often if you live in a dusty area.  You'll also be breathing in cleaner air too!
